About Slap Back Jack's Creator:
Mark Newell
Mark Newell has always liked to make art and music.

After getting a Fine Art degree from Skidmore College, he moved to New York City and helped children in Harlem make art during the day, as their Special Education Art Teacher. At night, his rock band played gigs at CBGB's.

Years later, Mark was inducted into the Motion Picture Studio Mechanics I.A.T.S.E Local 52 as a Prop Man, where he propped & dressed sets for television and eventually became the On-Set Dresser for feature film directors such as Martin Scorsese, Penny Marshall, and John Singleton.

Moving from films to designing commercials became a nice segway for Mark to continue making a name for himself in the industry, as well as make time for personal artistic projects.
He was inducted into the United Scenic Artists Local USA 829 as a Production Designer, where he continues to add many award winning spots to his resume.
Mark has been seen behind the camera as Art Director of the DreamWorks feature film, "Delivery Man" and the pilot episode of Showtime's, "The Affair."
Having helmed the Emmy Award winning Season 3 of HBO's, "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" as Scenic Designer, Mark became the Production Designer of "Saturday Night Live's" Good Neighbor Film Unit for Emmy Award winning Seasons 42 & 43. Mark took a hiatus to be the Art Director of the CBS series, FBI. He is currently back at SNL as the Production Designer for the Ghost Film Unit.

Mark lives in East Village, NYC and East Meredith, NY with his wife and their son.

He loves baseball, the banjo, and giving people high-fives.
